The question is how to deal with this in a legitimate hashkofa basis. I've read and seen examples of how gematrias work in many languages. If you take any size book and randomly calculate the "gematrias of various words and search for potential connections, it’ll often work!
More examples: Hand=27 and there are 27 bones in the hand!
Lock=41, Key=41
A dog and cat will fight so Dog=26, Cat=24, 26+24=50 and Fight=50.
Day=30 the days of a month! Second=60, 60 seconds in a minute. Earth=52 the weeks of the year!
So if you search for connections long enough, there are enough various calculations that’ll prove almost anything. Not sure how to hashkafically deal with that anomaly. Except to say that gematrias are only for comparing things NOT for halachic rulings???? Anyone have some better pshat.
(FYI I got my “english gematrias from another website that was mocking gematrias)
this basically makes hash out of gimtriyos... what happened to romemanu m'kol loshon?
ReplyDeleteWhich mathematical genius with too much time in their hands came up with this chiddush?
