Smartphones are making people dumber. People can no longer memorize telephone numbers. People are more afraid of leaving their cell phones at home than almost any other fear.
Of course there are some positive aspects of owning one of these devices. I recently saw someone staring intently into his phone as he fidgeted with his Tefilin Shel Rosh to set them in place.
I tried to be Dan Lekaf Zechus, having learned from my previous mistake, and luckily I was proven correct. He was not fiddling with his face-book, rather, he was taking a selfie to confirm that his Tefilin were positioned properly.
