Trump Thanksgiving Turkey Trip Trumps Time

Some Years ago, when President Bush made an unannounced trip to the Gulf to serve turkey to the troops, there was a sense of patriotism shared even among the Democrats.

This time around, they are not so forgiving, especially amidst impeachment hearings.

Yet Time Magazine, in the usual Trump Bashing spirit, claimed that Trump would be spending his vacation golfing.

Sad.

Hero 'Hunt' Helps Hunt Head Honcho

I just love the way President Trump is exploiting the take-down of the ISIS man.

Ten Years!

Wow. I can’t believe that it has been 10 years since I started writing on this blog in October of 2009.

  • Although blogging is primarily dead, there are still some diehard bloggers out there, even if the posting has become sporadic.
  • This blog has visited many topics over the past decade, and although the hit counter can not rival the mainstream blogs, we still garnered 120,000 views.
  • I got into blogging when it relatively new, when Making of a Gadol was all the rage, when the Slifkin episode created a firestorm and before the smart phone explosion.
  • I Had one simple goal: to see if blogging and Loshon Hora must go hand in hand. I believe that I have been successful in that mission.
  • Over the past 10 years, I have blogged about internet, technology, music and books of yesteryear, Catskills memories, removal of women from publications, and current news and politics.
  • The trend to digital learning has grown by leaps and bounds, with almost all the standard texts now available on sites such as hebrewbooks.org. The laptop continues to make inroads in Batei Midrashos as e-learning is the trend of the future. The internet Asifos have made filters mainstream, as TAG has mushroomed into a world-wide phenomenon.
  • I mourn the early blogs that are now extinct and particularly the Hamavdil blog written by my great mentor, Bray of Fundamentalist. I mourn him not only because his blog is defunct, but because he passed away some time ago.
  • I miss the hat tips, the fierce commenting, the original Hirhurim blog, Dark Blue Hat and most of all, On The Main Line. I miss Mississippi Fred and his incredible insights.
  • I am proud to have made a failed attempt with YGB’s help to resurrect the Jewish Observer, and equally proud to have promoted Dialogue Magazine, even though it seems to have met its demise also.
  • There were many triumphs, such as the discovery of the Chofetz Chaim video, the discovery of the good side of YouTube, where Rabbis and singers from yesteryear came to life once again.
  • The incredible triumph of Trump in the past presidential election, and his strong support of Jewish interests, enables one to see the Guiding Hand that runs the world.
  • We blogged Asifos, the Siyum Hashas, wrote reviews for various new music and followed Israel’s quest to land a craft on the moon.
  • It has been very rewarding to be part of the conversation for the past 10 years, and I hope to continue, albeit sporadically.
  • Thanks to all my readers, commenters and critics.

Sky-high Siyum Shas Suite Seating Sum Stirs Strife

Seven years ago I attended the beautiful Siyum HaShas at MetLife Stadium.

It was a huge Kiddush Hashem.

Yet this time around, the feeling is somewhat tempered by the commercialization and selling of VIP seating.

In my opinion, those who learned Daf Yomi should be given free seats on the field, and all others should be given seats on a first come, first served basis.

Selling Suites for thousands of dollars does not sit well with me and what the Agudah stands for.

See this link for old post: http://somehowfrum.blogspot.com/2012/08/spectacular-shas-siyum-sanctifies.html

Moon Man Mission Most Majestic

This week marks 50 years since Man landed on the Moon.
In my opinion, this story marks the most significant news event of the past millennium.

Feel free to disagree in the comments.

Malevolent Male's Manifesto Maligns Max

On June 13, in the wee hours of the morning, a Misguided Miscreant Malcontent Menace, set fire to a Rabbi's house. As the story unfolded, it became apparent that the perpetrator had a vendetta against the Rabbi going back several years.

The New York Daily News was quick to point out that he bore a grudge because the Rabbi had "abused" him. But careful checking of the facts determined that he was upset that the Rabbi didn't side with him in his divorce case and he threatened to publicize these false claims.

The people I know who know Rabbi Max say he goes out of his way to help many talmidim with various problems. He goes to bat for them, goes to court for them, counsels them and assists in any way possible. It is sad that this Meshugana tried to kill both the Rabbi and his reputation, but I am happy to see that some websites have stated the correct facts. The fact that he has hundreds of students over the years and there are no other MeToo's claiming abuse, is music to my ears.

The saying goes that where there is smoke, there is fire. But I say, Where there is an actual fire, there is a Liar.

Paris Parish, Precious Paintings, Pulverized. Puff. Pyre Providential Payback?

In 1242, King Louis ordered the burning of 24 cartloads of priceless Hebrew manuscripts, not far from the Notre Dame Cathedral.

We continue to mourn their destruction to this day.

Many Mourn Moon-shot Mechanical Misfire

I, along with many others, were saddened to see the failure of the Israeli aircraft to land on the moon.

In what was an awesome attempt to join the superpowers who reached the moon, Israel fell short.

But not only am I sad because of the failure, but rather we should all be sad because the Tanach that was aboard crash landed along with the craft.

Perhaps that can answer the question that was posed to R' Yaakov Kamenetzky in 1969 - ואיני יכול לנגע בך How could the US astronauts have touched the moon?

Maybe the answer is that the Jewish People and Israel will not be able to touch it - but others can.

In any event, it seems that the Israelis are already working on the second attempt. Kol Hakovod!

Little Land Launches Lunar Listener

Very Amazing.

Little Israel launches lunar probe in attempt to become only the 4th nation to land a craft on the moon.
There will be a Tanach included onboard.

This is quite a feat, considering that only 3 other nations, USA, Russia and China, have completed this endeavor.
